Minehead on the south bank of the Bristol Channel is a coastal town in Sommerset, England.
First thought to have been inhabited since the Bronze and Iron Ages, Minehead developed into a small port town by 1380 becoming a major trading port which dwindled by the 20th century. Minehead then became a retirement town but has since grown into a tourist destination with many caravan and camp sites in the area due to being the home of the Butlins Holiday Park wich attracts thousands of visitors each year. This make it a very popular choice for caravan holidays.

Minehead’s beach, known as The Strand, is a long sandy strip and is Somerset’s busiest beach and its promenade provides a lively atmosphere but still retains traditional seaside charm with amusements, deck chairs and ice cream parlours. There are many other beaches within driving distance and the coastal path has panoramic views across the Bristol Channel and the coast towards Exmoor.
