The Cotswolds main and largest town is Cirencester, Gloucestershire. The rich Roman history of Cirencester or Corinium as was known can be found around the town and in its Corinium Museum. Earliest recordings of the town were by Ptolemy in 150 AD. Lying in the dip of the Cotswold Hills Cirencester has become a popular tourist destination and its location makes it a good base to explore the Cotswolds. With some holiday parks now in the area it is great for caravan holidays. The Cotswolds has some of the most picture perfect towns and villages in England.
