Hampshire Caravan Holidays

Hampshire is a county on the south coast of England which was first believed to have been inhabited around the Ice Age in 12,000 BCE and was once home to Charles Dickens and Jane Austen. Hampshire has two National Parks the South Downs and the New Forest with its wealth of wildlife including deer, cattle and its famous wild horses. Explore the stunning scenery, ancient woodlands and moors, award winning gardens and museums. These two parks make up around 45% of Hampshire. It also has some beautiful coastline and is a popular choice for caravan holidays.

Portsmouth and Southampton are two of the largest ports in Europe and are famed for its rich maritime history especially the passenger liner Titanic whose maiden voyage left Southampton on April 15 1912 and ultimately sank in the Atlantic Ocean. Today there are ferry links to France, Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Wight.

Hampshire has many seaside resorts including Bournemouth - with 7 miles of glorious beaches this Victorian town has thrived attracting thousands of visitors each year for its nightlife, infamous Bournemouth Pier for well known acts and 2 mile long Bournemouth Gardens. Also Southsea, Meon Shore, Stokes Bay, Hill Head and Calshot Beach are along the coast.
Local attractions include Highclere Castle, a Jacobean House near Newbury where the television programme Downton Abbey was filmed. Other attractions are Beaulieu, the National Motor Museum Palace House and gardens, Go Ape, Exbury Gardens, Marwell zoo, Portsmouth Dockyard, Paultons Theme Park and Winchester Cathedral.

Hampshire has many eateries, restaurants and quaint country pubs no matter where you stay. Locally caught seafood is a popular choice along the coast as is Hampshire local bacon and ham.
